Presentation in The Globe

donderdag, oktober 11th, 2007

Presentation in The GlobeThe Bever store ‘The Globe” in The Hague was the location for the partner presentation of Project 66 North. Throughout the evening everybody was offered the opportunity to present their contribution to the project and off course, to the changing climate.

At first, Didier Maclaine Pont opened the evening for Bever explaining how pleased he was with the whole project. Sible Schöne, founder of the HIER climate campaign talked about the importance in understanding the consequences of the changing climate. After his energetic presentation, Arie Vonk, representing the Marnix Academy, gave a very detailed explanation of how they want to bring this issue to their students attention. Finally, Kevin Augello from New Earth films/ Deepeei informed everybody on how they plan to create the documentary. Surprisingly, Kevin presented the team and the public a short film; a hilarious compilation of some lousy shots of the team members, made by the team members.

The whole evening was successful and many contacts have been made. In fact, it was suggested that this evening could be organised again just prior to take off.

Sledge expedition in Amsterdam

woensdag, oktober 10th, 2007

On The DamThe expedition team couldn’t wait until 2008 and decided to go on a small expedition in Holland. On the 10th of October the whole team dressed up in Hawaii summer outfit. We hauled our sleds from the Dam square to the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. The weather was super and conditions were great. The team successfully made it to the Vondelpark. During the trip we had the opportunity together with the HIER climate campaign to hand-out information from HIER to the surprised public.

Our pictures were taken by many a tourist. We had friendly discussions with the public too. Also our documentary maker Kevin had a successful day. He shot a lot of film material. Kevin thought it was such fun for him to watch us in Hawaii shorts that he proposed we should repeat these events. Of course it is our hope that in the future it won’t be necessary to dress in Hawaii shorts to cross Greenland with wheels under the sleds !

Radio interview with BNN

weg-met-bnn-babe.jpgHad a interview on BNN Radio (national radio) with Sander de Heer, “Weg met BNN”. I was a bit nervous at first, but it went very well. It’s strange to hear yourself back on radio. ‘Weg met BNN’ is a program about travelling the world. On the same time others were interviewed too. They made a trip to Peking last year. Advice they had was: ‘pack two bags and leave one home…’Hm, i’m not so sure if that is wise for us (-:
